Trippin’

Apparently, I caused a problem at work on Friday, OR one of my co-workers was trippin’…

An idea that I had to move permits into a more neutral space, came to fruition, and my boss lady decided that we needed to rearrange some furniture. We moved a giant file cabinet into an unoccupied office, and pulled everything out of it that wasn’t permit related. Nice!

I am Permits. That’s what it says on my desk phone. I dig it.

Since I got hired in January, I have been training to work Utilities. It’s beneficial because everyone in the office should know how to take a payment for the water bill and what-not. Also, there had been a data loss, so I helped put things to rights in that aspect. Props to me! Phasing from Utilities to Permits has proven to be somewhat difficult to accomplish, due to the person who is Utilities. She keeps me busy doing tasks that are not my own. I don’t mind this too much, because in my heart, work is work and I’m just gonna do whatever needs doing. Everyone else in the office has noticed though, and have begun to voice their concerns.

My work assigned area has been set up. Computer, monitor, phone, paper clips, and so on are at a desk in the main bull pen of the Utilities department, along with my co-worker, Utilities. As of yet, I don’t spend a whole lot of time at my desk, but whatever!

My boss, the City Administrator, made a comment that, “You will have two work spaces…over there and in here…”, to which I laughed and said, “Okay! Cool!” For some God-awful reason, this upset Utilities, who then claimed that she was not feeling well, and said that she needed to go home. She called the Mayor to complain that she had seniority over me and wanted the unused office for herself. What?! People! We are not in grade school.

My sense of duty made me feel guilty about getting off work early for our trip home, since the Utilities person had left for the day, but there was nothing for it…the boss lady helped me load up some stuff that she brought from home for me to take to the piggies, and told me to have a good weekend. She’s a champ!

So, I went home, to the Angry Kitty Ranch. I packed my bag, which has never really been unpacked in over three years, and fed the scraps to the animals. Then, when my brother got home, I FED the animals and he watered them. I unloaded the water cube from the flatbed trailer and my brother hooked up to the trailer.

When his wife finished work, they loaded up into the truck and I walked to the gate to open it. When the truck and trailer were through, I closed and latched the gate, and got in the truck.

Traveling is my preferred form of trippin’….
